Scientific Rescue Shines in the Ancient Land, Lighting up Hope Amid the Ruins
On June 14, 2025, during the residential building collapse in Garden City, Goubai District, Cairo, Egypt, the Civil Defense Department responded swiftly by deploying an advanced structural collapse detection and rescue solution developed from international best practices. This solution operates through three scientifically designed phases, significantly improving rescue efficiency while ensuring the safety of rescue personnel.
In the first phase, real-time structural safety monitoring was the top priority. Rescue teams used the Building Deformation And Displacement Monitoring Radar along with the Dual Laser Structural Movement Telemeter to continuously monitor beams, support columns, and walls. When any structural abnormalities were detected, the early warning system was triggered immediately, effectively preventing secondary collapses and maintaining a safe, controllable rescue environment.
The second phase focused on detecting signs of life. Within the golden 72-hour rescue window, the Radar Life Detector utilized electromagnetic waves to penetrate the rubble and accurately detect vital signs such as breathing and heartbeat. This allowed rescuers to quickly determine the number and condition of trapped individuals, gaining valuable time to formulate effective rescue strategies.
The third phase emphasized precise location and targeted rescue. The Array Seismic Life Detector swiftly pinpointed the positions of trapped victims, while the Search Rescue Camera navigated through narrow gaps to transmit real-time visuals from beneath the debris. This provided crucial information for crafting the most effective rescue plan.
Thanks to this well-structured approach, five survivors were successfully rescued on the day of the incident. The solution was independently developed by Chinese company Beijing LSJ Technology Development Co., Ltd., and was delivered to the Cairo Civil Defense Headquarters two months prior to the accident. It played a vital role in the success of the operation.
Looking forward, this solution will be promoted across Egypt’s provincial civil defense departments, becoming a key technological force in life-saving efforts. It stands as a powerful example of the strength and commitment of “Made in China.” With cutting-edge innovation, LSJ is using robust technology to cut through disaster’s shadows and bring hope to those in need.
